Here comes the bride . . .again. Yes, been there and going to be doing it again. The first time around I had the big party with bridesmaids, a cocktail hour, fancy invitations, favors and yes, the beautiful, white wedding dress. It was the fairytale. And, at the time, it was perfect.
This time . . . the second time, I plan on keeping the occasion very simple, very sweet and pink. That’s right, I’m not looking for the traditional, white dress. I want something pretty in pink. In fact, rose gold would be even better. A beautiful blush, perhaps? I’m open to suggestions.
As far as more details, I’m really not sure what I’m looking for. I just know I don’t want a long gown, mermaid silhouette or lots of embellishments. If there is one thing I learned about love and life, it’s that the fancy dress and big wedding venue isn’t a shoe-in for a happily-ever-after. Been there, done that and it wasn’t a very happy ending.
The big day isn’t a re-do. Recreating what I had isn’t the goal. It’s a new chapter and a special time to celebrate new beginnings, blended families and a whole new outlook on love. I picture a quaint venue in Charleston or a small beach wedding. The two of us, our kids and our parents – maybe. And a pretty dress in a soft-shade of pink seems like the perfect way to top it off. So, let’s go shopping!
