To know a tween girl is to love a tween girl and this mama has one I completely adore. To say she’s my little miracle, is an understatement. In fact, she’s a living angel – in my eyes. Let me give you a little background – the short version. After three boys, my husband at the the time and I decided we were done having children. Although I really, really wanted a little girl, it just didn’t seem like it was in the cards for me. I had three healthy boys and unfortunately two miscarriages in between those – so my days of “trying for that girl” were done. At least, that’s what we thought.
Just six months after my husband had a vasectomy, I discovered I was pregnant. Yes. That fine print you read about, while thinking it’s never going to happen to you – well, I’m proof, it can happen. A “spontaneous reconnect” is what the doctors called it and with that said, I was pregnant with my 4th child. Yikes! Talk about an emotional roller coaster – I was riding it and it was a crazy one.
Now, let’s make this long story short . . . it was a girl! And, about six months after she was born, my life took another turn. I discovered my husband was having an affair with my “best friend.” Needless to say, this little baby girl is what kept me going. Of course, my boys did, too – but this baby needed me and I needed her more than she will ever know. A Godsend . . . divine intervention . . . call it what you wish. Amazing sums it up perfectly.
Okay, back to what you came here for. Fast forward 11 years and now I have this beautiful tween girl. The days of dressing her up like a doll and picking out squishmallows, fidgets . . . and her playing dress up and with LOL dolls is over for good. It’s now about oversized sweatshirts, lululemon, skincare, makeup and room decor – to name just a few of her favorites. That’s why I’ve put together a pinterest board with inspiration for birthday and holiday presents for a tween girl. It’s to help not only myself, but other moms who struggle with shopping for this in-between age. Let’s face it . . . they’re not a little girl anymore but they’re also not quite a teenager, yet. Girls can be quite finicky at this age and us moms . . . we’ve got to stick together.
