Eeeek! It’s my favorite time of year. Cooler weather, sweaters galore, pumpkin pickin’ and so much more. Not to mention, the cute fall and Halloween decor you see everywhere – love every single bit of it. I’ve already started decorating for fall, but I’ve been holding out on Halloween decorations until it was closer to October. So, since October is only four days away, it seems like the perfect time to start bringing the spooky out.
Honestly, I am one who likes more of a fall decorated look, than a “spooky” look. But, since I’m a mom of four kids, it’s a must in their eyes that I do it up for Halloween, too. I’m more of a scarecrow kind-of-girl and they go for skeletons. You get the picture, right? So, it’s a bit of a compromise. I decorate for both, with more emphasis on pretty fall decor, while including cute Halloween decor, as well.
I already have some decorations from previous years, but I like to refresh the look with some new pieces mixed in. I also have a year-round holiday tree, that I change up through the seasons. Since I love the look of a small lighted Christmas tree in my foyer, I thought to myself, “why not have a holiday tree I can keep up all year round?” There are no rules. So, that’s exactly what I started a few years back. I actually refer to it as my “memory” tree, so the ornaments are photo ornaments that I’ll continue adding and updating each year. Then, as the seasons change, I add festive little pieces throughout. It’s become one of my favorite things in my house. It’s also a great conversation piece.
